Alfar Ceramics was born in Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego, Argentina, in 2015. It was initiated to explore the local mineral raw materials.

"Our training in ceramics is self-taught, experimenting, taking notes, and trying again, incorporating sands and clays from different places. We are graphic designers, which has provided us with many tools to create a family of pieces with a distinctive, easily recognizable identity.
We started by making custom pieces for restaurants and have now added a line that we sell at our workshop to individual customers. Now based in Buenos Aires, we continue to use 100% Patagonian raw materials."

It's easy to recognize a Patagonian heart, and meeting Nacha, one of Alfar's founders, a few months ago was a pleasant surprise. She is quiet, deliberate, and reveals a unique passion for the native materials of our Argentine Patagonia. She is an artist, there is no doubt about that; her answers are short and concise because what matters is what her hands have to say. Now, Alfar's pieces are made in Buenos Aires with 100% Patagonian raw materials because it's what a healthy growth leads to – migrating to the capital but without forgetting our roots.
